I re worked my living room, I still don't that I like it, but it's a change atleast. I'd really like to get a couch, the room seems like a giant bedroom. No, I don't have my bed sitting in the middle of the room, but I still have my desk in here, and with just a recliner, it feels incredibly disjointed. For now, I'll just rearrange.

The "dining room" now has this in it..

It's a "trofast" storage unit from IKEA. I love that its made for kids, makes it a little more fun. It's actually a "hand me down" from my parents. They were trying to de-clutter, and I, well, had nothing. I haven't had much of a use for it for awhile, originally I used it (in awhile apartment) as a room divider. It doesn't really work that way inside my current place, but I think it'll be helpful in my new "office". I'm still moving things around, but it's a start.

It's funny, looking around, my living room seems even more disjointed, which is kind of frustrating. But hey, maybe when I do get a couch that'll help the "flow".

June xoxo

The summer is here! If you live in an area like me you're probably cringing at the idea of 106+ days. However I've been enjoying our 86 degrees lately, and 70s at night? Perfection! We've had very little wind at night, which has made sitting outside lovely.

I apologize that I haven't blogged in over a week. My niece was born on May 19th, and although I updated on the 21st I've been incredibly busy. However, I've been brainstorming my apartment these past two weeks.

The living room is my "catch all" room. My TV and computer reside in this room (for now) and various odd things pile up in here. Unrelated hand me downs fill it. The lack of couch, and storage makes this room very messy. Top that with computer cords, and I'm overwhelmed. I have plenty of surfaces, but no constant theme. I can't help but to look as I pass my neighbors windows, one particular neighbor has excellent design taste. It's had me really thinking over my own living room.

My dining room is not being used at the moment. It has the patio door and a giant window which makes it a nice spot, albeit a nice, unused, spot. I have a table and chairs in there, boxes from my recent move, and well.. my recycling (not very fashion forward). My recent "bright idea" is to convert that space into my "home office". This coming semester I am locked into 17 units (5 classes), and I'm going to need a place to hunker down and spend time in. It would be nice to have that space separate from my "sleeping area", so that when I'm done studying, I can "get away". It's just making that space work that'll be the challenge. The dining room table will work perfect, I think. From there.. who knows!

My last room, as always, seems to be my bedroom. My lack of furniture is due to going from renting a room to an entire apartment. So my bedroom consists of one mattress, one bookcase, and various boxes of office related things. It's unorganized and cluttered. My computer is an eye sore, but despite that, my entire desk/computer setup will probably be transferred into my bedroom. Maybe this will clear up some "fend shui" in the living room.

Here's to summer and making it me!

Design my room? Curious I clicked it. Wow! Watch the videos, sign up.. this is a neat tool!

I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I've thought about drawing designs, and cutting out magazines, but sometimes I just want to visualize a color, or a set up. I often find myself in Adobe Illustrator drawing out my crazy ideas. This will cut back on the time I'm spending getting mad that I can't seem to draw my room just right.

It takes the concept of a design board and makes it virtual. Don't get me wrong, doing a real life design board actually sounds like fun, but this way you can bounce a ton of ideas before even deciding the direction you want to go in (or hiring an interior designer to do it for you).

The rooms are fairly generic, so customizing them is easy. What's that? Upload your own photos? Yup! Want REAL products? Yup! From Target, and other places.

This is a great idea, (one I wish I had thought up).

BTW, I added a comment link! I love their design department. The rooms they put together are inspiring and they seem down to earth. While browsing Pottery Barn's PBteen.com, I found great cork board inspirations.

This is my favourite..

I LOVE polka dots! It's cut through to the kitchen, the sink sits on the otherside of the cut out. The counter, into the living room, extends about 4 inches. It's perfect for stools. I've been tempted to sit there, but everytime I try each chair is much to short. So I think the solution is indeed a bar stool.

I like modern furniture, I own these dining chairs. So I wouldn't be surprised if I chose to go that direction, but I don't know that I actually want to buy my chairs... but here are my favourite inspirations!

- #1, #2 IKEA, #3 -CB2

Apartment Therapy, my newest blog addiction, has an article on backless stools. It has some really neat looking stools, lots of inspiration.

I think I will be keeping my eye out for DIY chairs just waiting to happen, throw away stools, and garage sale finds.

The ART of growing up.

It takes a lot to start on your own!
